Who Sings The Duck Dynasty Song

By now you have heard the entrance theme or opening song for Duck Dynasty. You know the one playing in your head every Wednesday evening. Clean Shirt, New Shoes, And I Don’t Know Where I Am Going To…… Yep, that’s the one! But, do you know what band performs the music that opens every episode of Duck Dynasty? Unless you are a product of the 80’s you may not know!

That’s ok, because I am going to tell you who sings the theme music for the show right now.

Who Sings The Opening Duck Dynasty Song?

The band is called ZZ Top. The band ZZ Top is also known for their long beards too! ZZ Top was the perfect choice for theme songs when it came to a television show like Duck Dynasty. The producers of the show knew exactly what they were doing when they decided on this song. If you had your choice, what song would you have picked to represent the show?

Duck Dynasty Theme Song Lyrics

Sharp Dressed Man Lyrics

Clean shirt, new shoes
And I don’t know where I am goin’ to.
Silk suit, black tie,
I don’t need a reason why.
They come runnin’ just as fast as they can
Coz’ every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man.

Watch the video of the band performing their hit song right here. Live from Texas, ZZ Top performs their most famous hit video of all time. This isn’t the only popular song from the band. One of my favorites by ZZ Top is called Legs!

They are a 3 member rock and roll band with strong influences from blues and humorous lyrical motifs. They are from Houston Texas and got together in June 1970. Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and Dusty Hill makes up the current line up and have played together since the first year.

Billy Etheridge was originally the bassist, but was replaced by Dusty Hill very early on. Their hit music known as Sharp Dressed Man is a perfect fit for the Robertson’s hit tv series. Sharp Dressed Man is off the album known as Eliminator, which was released in March of 1983.

The Band has also appeared in several movies and tv shows. The most popular being Back To The Future III. ZZ Top performed their hit songs “Tush” and “Legs” as part of the XXXI Super Bowl halftime show in 1997.

Nickleback has a remake that I really like too.

  1. The Duck Dynasty and ZZ Top beards are cool! And I love both of these bands! Grew up listening to ZZ Top and Nickelback is always at the top of my listening list! Great to hear them both. They make me Happy Happy Happy!

  2. The sharp dressed man song by ZZ top is so perfect for Duck dynasty men. It is great. Even the beards match. The other night one of the DD shows showed the all dressed up in tux type suits except they had on camo pants. Oh my, they are so funny. I love this show.

  3. Sharp Dressed Man is a perfect lead in to this show.

Unfortunately, the authorised A&E DVD sets of season 1 and 2 (and probably season 3, which I have pre-ordered) have another theme song entirely, it’s not a bad song, but it just doesn’t fit.
They (A&E) didn’t want to pay up the royalties to ZZ Top (or their publishers)!
Let’s hope they do the right thing on season 4!!!

    See ya’

    1. Sorry Thom, I just saw your post. Why does it not surprise me that it is A&E’s greed responsible for the different opening song. Yes, I hope they put “Sharp Dressed Man” on future dvds, but I’m not holding my breath. I frankly with another network would pick up Duck Dynasty and leave A&E out in the cold!.

    2. Does anyone know the name of the theme song during the first season?

It goes something like, “You’ve been walking around your whole life…” “working and slaving your whole life away…”

I can’t find it in the closing credits or even on Google. Did they make it up just to escape the royalties to ZZ Top?
